Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton today announced plans to launch a probe into Meta Platforms Inc. and Character.AI over the companies’ chatbots being used by young people as mental health tools.

The document, which runs over 200 pages, laid out acceptable behavior for Meta staffers to use while training AI chatbots for use across Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

The standards also allow the bots to make "statements that demean people on the basis of their protected characteristics," such as "black people are dumber than white people."

In an internal document, Meta included policies that allowed its AI chatbots to flirt and speak with children using romantic language, according to a report from Reuters.

"At Neil Young’s request, we are no longer using Facebook for any Neil Young related activities,” the musician's team announced.
