The troubling recent trend of mass video game industry layoffs continued this week. This time, it was Electronic Arts, considered one of the industry's biggest third-party video game publishers. Per Bloomberg,

Beloved video game publisher Electronic Arts canceled its upcoming Titanfall game and fired over 300 employees today. A third of the cuts, Variety reports, came from EA’s developer Respawn, the makers of the popular Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi series.

IGN reports that about 100 employees at Respawn were laid off, including developers, QA workers, and publishing staffers. IGN also says that some workers were moved from Respawn over to EA Motive’s Iron Man game, the Battlefield series, “and other projects.”
