Derby fire prompts evacuation notice

The Derby Fire, located north of Dotsero in White River National Forest grew to 839 acres Tuesday evening, according to the Watch Duty app. The measurement is more than three times the 245 acre estimation Tuesday evening. The growth has prompted evacuation orders in the area of Sweetwater Lake and a complete closure of Colorado River Road.

The two fires are called the Derby Fire, located in Eagle County near Garfield County, and the La Plata Fire, located in Chaffee and Lake counties in the Pike-San Isabel National Forests.
The Eagle Fire Department said the RA 12 Ada CO. has burned roughly 20 acres, but there are no confirmed evacuations at this time. Fire crews, including the Middletown Star firefighters, are on the scene battling the fire. "Please avoid the area while firefighters continue operations," Eagle Fire said.
