The Pa. Auditor General's Office announced the performance audit into one of the insurance programs that used a loophole that cost taxpayers more than $350,000.
A UPMC audit revealed it did not update all participant information, costing taxpayers $357,048 in 2022, $120,977 of which being unrecoverable.

“UPMC is required to report to DHS whether a person has died, went to jail or is no longer eligible to be part of the program,” Deputy Auditor General for Audits Gordon Denlinger said.
“DHS uses this as part of the data to set the rate it pays UPMC to provide care to people on Community HealthChoices,” Deputy Auditor General Gordon Denlinger said in a statement Monday.
