Arsenal have been dealt a blow after Norwegian wonderkid Sverre Nypan decided to stay at Rosenborg until the summer. Nypan has been attracting interest from Arsenal and Manchester City’s sister club Girona, who coincidentally played each other in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

As aforesaid, the agreement for Sverre Nypan is believed to be worth £12m – although Arsenal could only have to use £900,000 of their allocated budget for the winter transfer window if they beat Girona in the UEFA Champions League.

Arsenal are working on a deal to sign midfielder Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg. Dialogue between the clubs and with the player’s representatives is advancing, as Arsenal try to land the 18-year-old Norway youth international.

Arsenal have been told Sverre Nypan is set to make a decision on his future imminently. The Gunners are among a number of club’s tracking the Rosenborg midfielder and had been confident of signing him ahead of a number of Premier League rivals.

Alongside their pursuit of Nypan, the Gunners are also believed to be exploring centre-forward options in the winter transfer market. Injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus have left them light up top and dented their chances of catching Liverpool in the title race.
