The U.S. Embassy in Uganda declined to comment on what it called 'diplomatic negotiations,' but said that diplomats were seeking to uphold President Trump's 'policy of keeping Americans safe.'

Uganda – which has Africa's largest refugee population – has become the latest African country to agree to take in failed asylum seekers deported from the United States, under President Donald Trump's controversial deportation drive.

Uganda said it had agreed to a "temporary" deal with the Trump administration that would see it take in migrants deported from the U.S., with certain conditions.
