A federal judge said Monday that she will order officials to keep Kilmar Abrego Garcia in the United States while she weighs a new legal challenge from him over the Trump administration’s plans to quickly deport him to Uganda.

Efforts by U.S. immigration officials to deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Uganda, a country to which the Salvadoran national has no ties, has again focused attention third-country deportations.

Judge Paula Xinis temporarily blocked Abrego Garcia’s deportation until a hearing is held to determine whether the Trump administration will give him a chance to fight his removal in court, according to MSNBC.
