Draper's upset comes during a tournament full of them. Wimbledon has seen some big names exit early in 2025, including No. 2 Coco Gauff, No. 3 Jessica Pegula and No. 3 Alexander Zverev. Draper is the latest big name to be eliminated from the event prematurely.

The 36-year-old Cilic, the 2014 U.S. Open champion and 2017 Wimbledon runner-up, stunned fourth-seeded Jack Draper 6-4, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 in a second-round match on No. 1 Court to eliminate the top British player from the grass-court Grand Slam tournament.

Tennis veteran Marin Cilic pulled off another upset at Wimbledon on Thursday, taking down No. 4 Jack Draper in four sets. After dropping the first two sets of the match, Draper stormed back to take the third, and it felt for a moment that the comeback was on. Instead, Cilic shut the door on a 6–4, 6–3, 1–6, 6–4 victory.
