SAN ANTONIO, July 31, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- CPS Energy has issued a request for proposal (RFP) to acquire up to 400 megawatts (MW) of wind energy through one or more Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).

Investment in renewable energy for CPS has grown since 2023, with an increase of 113 megawatts of wind capacity and 480 megawatts of solar. An additional 254 megawatts of solar is under contract.

The offshore wind project, called Empire Wind 1, was supposed to supply power to 500,000 homes in New York. The federal lease for the project was signed during the first Trump administration in 2017.
