MCFRS: Car destroyed after e-scooter battery sparks fire
A car was found engulfed in flames originating from the lithium battery-powered electric scooter in the trunk.
The Honolulu Fire Department has determined that a blaze in McCully over the weekend was caused by a lithium-ion battery from an e-scooter. The case has been classified as accidental.
HFD investigators determined the McCully fire, which caused $248,000 in damage, was accidental and started by a lithium-ion battery from an unplugged e-scooter.
No injuries were reported, but the damage is estimated at $248,000.
