The South Dakota Supreme Court has taken away the law license of former Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg for six months. The state’s high court publicly released the disciplinary decision on Thursday.

The former South Dakota attorney general who accidentally killed a man with his vehicle in 2020 will lose his license to practice law in South Dakota for six months under the terms of a ruling released Thursday by the state Supreme Court.

Jason Ravnsborg told a dispatcher he thought he hit a deer on a rural highway when he actually hit pedestrian Joseph Boever. Investigators described him as changing his story in interviews, and state lawmakers impeached Ravnsborg and removed him from office in 2022.
