Based on data entered in the Excel sheet, offline tool will prepare a file which will have to be uploaded by the taxpayer on GST Portal to create GSTR-1.

The offline tool will be able to import data from the Excel template and generate JSON (Java Script Object Notation) file which will have to be uploaded on GST portal, a statement said.

GST Network, which developed the technology backbone for new indirect tax regime, today said it has launched an offline tool for filing purchase returns GSTR-2.
