Purdue – which tumbled eight spots, to No. 12, after upsets by UCLA and the Illini – will likely slip further down the AP poll next Monday and, more importantly, is positioned a full two games behind the four conference co-leaders.
The Illini rise up the rankings after a dominant victory over Purdue -- and prove they're a Final Four threat.
*Five area teams were noted in the latest Associated Press state rankings. Beaverton is listed at No. 6 and Cass City is honorable mention in Division 3. Mio is ranked No. 9 while Au Gres and Hale are honorable mention in Division 4.
In terms of on-court production, there is likely no better freshman class in college hoops history. That reflects in this week's Big 12 power rankings.
