Red Hulk has been a strong presence throughout all the marketing material for Sam Wilson's big screen debut, but, after recent rumors, it seems like a bait and switch which makes perfect sense.

The second film in the MCU has rarely factored into the universe as a whole, beyond William Hurt’s Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross making recurring appearances in later films. That changes with Captain America: Brave New World, which will see Liv Tyler and Tim Blake Nelson reprise their roles as Betty Ross and Samuel Sterns/Leader, respectively.

Brave New World‘s real “big debut” is adamantium. After all, adamantium’s introduction in the upcoming blockbuster is surely a signal that the MCU’s new Wolverine – and by extension, the franchise’s long-awaited X-Men reboot – is edging closer to the big screen.

Director Julius Onah has confirmed that the upcoming Captain America 4 will introduce the rare metal Adamantium into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, setting the stage for Wolverine’s origin story in the future.
