It has been 14 years since the overhaul of the Washington D.C., reflecting pool was finished. It was the first time in 90 years that the reflecting pool was repaired, and a more cost-effective way to bring water into it was developed.

The bill for renovations to the algae-ridden Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool totals roughly $16 million, according to government contract records.

Work on the pool was completed last week, after president Donald Trump vowed to paint the space an “American flag blue.”​
