BOTTOM LINE: The Detroit Tigers open a three-game series at home against the Houston Astros on Monday. Detroit has gone 39-24 at home and 73-53 overall. The Tigers have a 41-13 record in games when they did not allow a home run.

On Sunday, the Detroit Tigers were going for a sweep over their division rival Minnesota Twins. They weren't able to pull it off, though, getting destroyed 8-1 in a result that ended their four-game winning streak and marked their second loss in their last eight contests.

Right-handed reliever Brenan Hanifee has returned to the Detroit Tigers, immediately following the minimum 15-day stay in Triple-A Toledo.

McGonigle perhaps has a better chance than Clark to debut, but still a very low percentage. The Tigers seem to believe in Trey Sweeney. There are other infielders, such as Jace Jung and Hao-Yu Lee, in Toledo. McGonigle is an awesome prospect with a hitting profile that should translate well to the major leagues.

The Detroit Tigers could look to make a lot of big moves in the offseason. There are a few players on the roster right now who could be off it by next season.

The right-hander was optioned to Toledo in early August but is back with the Tigers for Sunday's series finale in Minnesota. Hanifee has made 46 relief appearances for the Tigers this year and has recorded 11 holds with a 3.10 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 35:12 K:BB over 52.1 innings.

Since July 31, Detroit Tigers relievers Kyle Finnegan and Will Vest have combined for a 1.26 ERA with two walks and 19 strikeouts in 14⅓ innings.
