The Mets on Wednesday re-signed reliever Ryne Stanek, according to multiple reports. New York acquired Stanek last season in a pre-deadline trade with the Seattle Mariners. However, before retaining Stanek, the Mets reportedly considered adding star reliever Kenley Jansen, who spent the last two seasons with the Boston Red Sox.
The Mets thought about Kenley Jansen in free agency but decided against it to give Edwin Diaz the closer role with no competition.
