Tennessee Congressman Mark Green officially announced his resignation on the Fourth of July, effective Friday.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis City Councilwoman Jerri Green says she is running for Tennessee governor in the 2026 election. Green made the announcement in a speech that was posted to social media on Monday. “We need more women, more mothers, making our laws, because they will not leave working families behind,” she said in the video.

Heidi Kuhn, long-time Shelby County Government employee and current Shelby County Government Criminal Court Clerk, announced her run for mayor in June. Kuhn, who started her work in Shelby County Government in 2000, has worked in multiple director-level positions within the government.
