Toledo took an early 12-4 lead against Akron and kept their lead between six and 10 points through much of the half. A Scott 3-pointer completed a rally and got the Zips as close as 29-28 with 4:38 left in the half, but the Rockets outscored them 13-2 the rest of the way. The Zips trailed 42-30 at halftime, their biggest deficit of the game.
Akron takes on Toledo looking to continue its three-game win streak. The teams meet Tuesday for the first time this season.
Ohio (10-7, 4-1 Mid-American Conference) came into the Rubber City on a six-game winning streak, one of three undefeated teams in MAC play. Akron (12-5, 5-0 MAC), now one of the two remaining undefeated teams, was the one to snap Ohio's streak with a decisive 92-80 victory.
