James Cook believes he's worth $15 million per season, but despite two fine seasons, the Bills running back probably isn't going to get that.

A new Buffalo Bills offseason means tough roster decisions will be made. The Bills are lacking in some key areas in the receiving room and among the defensive line and secondary, but one place they aren’t lacking is running back.

Buffalo Bills running back James Cook is set to have an interesting offseason as he enters 2025, which is the year of his rookie contract. After liking a comment on his Instagram live that suggested $15 million APY for him in his next contract, it isn't known if the Bills will want to fork out that kind of salary to a running back.

A $15 million average make Cook the NFL's second-highest paid running back. San Francisco's Christian McCaffrey, who signed a two-year, $38 million extension, is the only running back making at least $15 million per year. It'd put Cook ahead of Indianapolis' Jonathan Taylor ($14 million).

According to Spotrac, that single-year figure would rank at 16th best in the NFL in terms of average annual value, just above former Bills RB Devin Singletary ($5.5 million). If Cook were to receive a deal worth $15 million per year, only 2023 Offensive Player of the Year Christian McCaffrey would rank above that at $19 million.

The only running backs on the list higher than Cook were Kyren Williams (Los Angeles Rams), Jonathan Taylor (Indianapolis Colts), Josh Jacobs (Green Bay Packers), Bijan Robinson (Atlanta Falcons), Jahmyr Gibbs (Detroit Lions), Derrick Henry (Baltimore Ravens) and Saquon Barkley (Philadelphia Eagles).

The Bills spent multiple years with GM Brandon Beane at the helm aiming to construct a hybrid receiving running backs group that could bring athleticism and versatility to their offensive playcalling.
