Genetics company 23andMe has filed for bankruptcy and its CEO is stepping down, leaving many users concerned about the future of their data.

Wojcicki said she intends to become an outside bidder to acquire the company’s assets after her earlier efforts to take 23andMe private failed.

Shares plummeted after the announcement, as Wojcicki said she aims to secure the assets of the popular DNA-testing company.
