On the main card is a flyweight bout between No. 1 contender Brandon Royval and No. 12 Joshua Van. Current UFC odds list Van as a slight favorite at -125 via BET99, while Royval is priced at +105.

Royval entered the fight riding a two-fight winning streak. He was originally scheduled to face No. 6 ranked Manel Kape but Kape was forced out of the fight with a foot injury.

Royval, 32, entered UFC 317 off back-to-back wins over Brandon Moreno and Tatsuro Taira. The victories followed a title challenge loss to Alexandre Pantoja in December 2023.
