HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Weather and temperatures will continue to improve as we go through the weekend. SATURDAY: Partly cloudy skies will be with us for the day as it will be chilly with highs in the low to mid-40s. Clear to partly cloudy skies are expected for the night as it turns very cold again with lows in the low to mid-20s.

Another First Alert Weather Day is set in motion this morning. Yesterday’s valley snowfall has led to heavy snow accumulations in the high country. I-70 travel is extremely difficult this morning as many passes are covered in snow.

We’ll continue our trend of bitterly cold mornings on Friday. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect until 9am for locations along and south of Highway 20. Wind chills will be in the -20s through mid-morning, but then a southerly wind up to 25mph will take over and help temperatures peak near 20° this afternoon. Lots of sunshine is expected today.
