The Cleveland Guardians are fighting for their spot in the playoff picture, and calling up the right prospects could help them do it.

The two-run shot in the eighth inning against Texas on Tuesday night merely padded the lead for Kansas City, which went on to a 5-2 victory. It was the fifth straight win for the Royals, who closed to within 2 1/2 games of an AL wild-card berth and are within nine games of the first-place Tigers in the AL Central.

“This is the lefty that haunts their dreams,” Paul Hoynes declared bluntly on the latest Cleveland Baseball Talk Podcast. “No matter what team he pitches for, no matter what team he plays for, he always seems to face the Guardians and he always seems to come out one step ahead of them.”
