Law enforcement officials say two police officers in Virginia have been shot and killed during a traffic stop.

Two police officers in Virginia were fatally shot in a traffic stop-gone-wrong Friday night, officials said. The traffic stop was initiated at about 11:30 p.m. in Virginia Beach, according to Jody Saunders, a spokesperson for the Virginia Beach Police Department. Saunders did not say whether a suspect was in custody.

VBPD is currently investigating a shooting that investigators confirm, has taken the life of an officer and seriously injured another.
