What makes the waters of Raja Ampat unlike anywhere else

A curious young Spotted Cuscus on Kri Island, Raja Ampat, Indonesia. Cuscus are arboreal marsupials, closer to koalas and wombats than to monkeys or lemurs. Raja Ampat sits east of a biogeographic boundary where monkeys never naturally crossed the deep-water gaps that isolate these islands, even during periods of lower sea level.
